Activities:
Examination and licensing of social workers. Revoke, suspend, deny licenses and investigate
complaints.

Composition:
Seven members all appointed by the Governor:
1. Two lay members;
2. Four certified social workers, licensed to engage in private independent practice;
One of whom shall be social worker professionals with a minimum of two years practice in the State of
South Dakota.
Term of Appointment:
Terms shall expire on October 30 on the third year of appointment. Terms that end June 30,
2012, are extended to October 30, 2012. No more than 3 successive full terms.
Frequency of Meetings:
Board meets approximately every two months. Meetings are held via teleconference, with one in-person meeting each year.
