Activities:
Promotes water development projects, advises the Governor and legislature regarding the state policy
and priorities for water resource development, and develops and implements the state water plan. Also
serves as the South Dakota Conservancy District.
Organization:
Attached to the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Board retains quasi-judicial, quasilegislative,
advisory, non-administrative and special budgetary functions
Composition:
Seven members appointed by the Governor. Not all from the same political party
