Examination and licensing of persons practicing veterinary medicine.

Composition:
Four members appointed by the Governor: One (1) lay member; and Three (3) licensed and registered veterinarians (Actively engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine in the state for a period of five years preceding the appointment). Vacancies due to resignation, death, removal from the state, or suspension will be appointed by the Governor until the next succeeding July first. Veterinarians must be actively engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine for five years prior to appointment.
Term of Appointment:
Terms shall expire on October 30 on the third year of appointment. Terms that end October 30, 2012, are extended to October 30, 2012.

Frequency of Meetings:
The SD Veterinary Medical Exam Board meets at least 3 times a year with additional meetings as necessary.
