Authorization:
Chapter 36-27A of the South Dakota Codified Laws
Activities:
Examine and license psychologists and investigate and prosecute violations.
Organization:
Department of Social Services
Composition:
The Governor shall appoint all of the members: 1. Two lay members; and, 2. Five licensed psychologists at the doctoral level for a minimum of two years representing a cross section of the profession of psychology. Credentials of each psychologist shall be documented and be public record.
Term of Appointment:
Terms shall expire on October 30 on the third year of appointment. Terms that end June 30, 2012, are extended to October 30, 2012. Members are not eligible for more than 3 successive full terms.

Frequency of Meetings:
The Board meets in person approximately every three months. If there are no applicants to test for the oral examination, the Board will meet via teleconference.
