Activities:
Examination, licensing, and inspection of persons engaged in the practice of fitting and dispensing
hearing aids. Suspend and revoke certificates of license.
Organization:

Composition:
Members shall be appointed by the Governor.
1. Two members shall be audiologists who are currently practicing audiology or who have two years of
experience practicing audiology and who hold active licensure for the practice of audiology in SD. First
audiologist shall meet the eligibility requirements for licensure;
2. Two Members shall be persons with at least two years of experience in the practice of fitting and
dispensing hearing aids and who hold an active hearing aid dispensing license.
3. One member shall be a representative of the public who is not associated with practice or business of
hearing aid dispensing or audiology or who is not a member of a related profession or occupation.
Term of Appointment:
Terms shall expire on October 30 on the third year of appointment. No member may serve more than three consecutive full terms.

2 meetings per year

Mission Statement:
The mission of the South Dakota Board of Hearing Aid Dispensers and Audiologists is to protect the health and safety of the consumer public by licensure of qualified persons, enforcement of the statutes, rules and regulations governing the practice of hearing aid dispensing and audiology, including the appropriate resolution of complaints.
