Authorization:
The South Dakota Department of Labor Employee Retirement Board was created by Chapter 386, Laws of 1987, "An Act to establish a board to administer the retirement program for certain employees of the department of labor," and as provided by SDCL 61-2-15 "in accordance with the formal plan for those employed prior to July 1980."
Activities:
The goal of the Board is "To do anything and everything constituting the administration of the retirement program."

Composition:
5 members. Secretary of DLR and Commissioner of BFM. Two Members are elected to the board by the employees and former employees of DLR who are covered by the retirement plan. One Member appointed by Governor.
Term of Appointment:
The two elected members have 4 year terms. SDCL 61-2-15.1
